Indian Army and Indian Navy visited RIMT Engineering Institutes, Mandi Gobindgarh ; 10 shortlisted by Indian Army at RIMT Campus

Great enthusiasm has been witnessed among final and pre-final year students of RIMT Engineering Institutes, Mandi Gobindgarh to join Indian Army and Indian Navy as both the organizations recently visited the campus to recruit engineering students under 19th University Entry Scheme.

Dr. Hukam Chand Bansal, Chairman RIMT Group of Institutions extended warm welcome to Lt. Col. Ashutosh Sharma and team members. He said that Indian Armed forces are pride of the nation and promises both professional and personal growth at every stage of the career. An officer in the Indian Army inherits glorious heritage and timeless traditions, blended perfectly with the latest technology in the fields of management, engineering and medical sciences.

Lt. Col. Sharma showed a video and addressed student’s queries. He added that the adventure and extra-curricular activities in the Army ensure an all round development essential in today's world and gets you trained not only to be an Officer but also a Gentleman for life. More than 200 eligible students appeared for group discussion followed by personal interview. Finally 10 students namely Gurminder Singh, Gautam Setia, Sushant Goyal, Shankar Kehal, Amandeep Cheema, Sakshi Walia, Shruti Mehra, Harsimran Kaur, Swapnil Srivastav and Anurag Gupta were shortlisted for SSB interview.

Also a team from Indian Navy, comprising Commander Ajit Singh Sethi along with Commander R.K.Ahlawat and Lt. Cdr. Sajith Kumar visited RIMT Engineering campus to shortlist students as Short Service Commissioned officers in technical branches under university entry scheme. Cdr. Sethi interacted with students and apprised them of the various avenues for engineers in Navy and started the recruitment process with personal interview. Result of which is expected in coming month.

Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Principal RIMT-Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET) said that both the events were pool campus as students from nearby colleges also appeared in the placement drives. He also said that more companies are lined up for all trades of 2010 batch students in coming months.

Dr. Pritpal Singh, Principal RIMT-Maharaja Aggrasen Engineering College (MAEC) was also present on the occasion along with Prof. H.S.Taluja, Director Placement and other heads of engineering departments.
